Associate – What is it?
RICS Associate is our new entry-level qualification. It provides an opportunity for those with relevant work experience and/or vocational
qualifications to gain recognition of their skills in land, property and construction sectors.
RICS Associate is the only entry-level qualification for professionals in land,
property and construction that rigorously assesses competence based on technical skills attained through work experience.
How do I demonstrate competence?
RICS has defined the competencies for each surveying discipline or pathway. These are technical competencies - the
technical skills needed
for the work you will be doing. There are also mandatory competencies - the ‘softer’ skills that all practitioners need, such as client care
and health and safety. Further information about your individual pathway can be found in the candidate guide.
AssocRICS is a valuable qualification providing clear evidence that you are highly competent and that you adhere to RICS Rules of Conduct
and ethical standards.
Becoming an Associate also provides a stepping stone to achieving chartered status (MRICS).
